The Riverside Arts Weekend (RAW), now in its sixth year, features a juried arts fair, theater, music, architecture and other arts-related events. This is a vibrant cultural weekend that brings thousands of visitors and residents together to mingle and walk the streets of historic downtown Riverside. Held at Guthrie Park!
Riverside children and their parents are invited to participate in the construction and planting of "FRED Build-a-Bed", a special children's garden. Volunteers will assemble the raised beds, add the soil and plant a variety of herbs and vegetables overseen by Shawn Sinn, a local landscape professional and board member of the Frederick Law Olmsted Society. Materials are being donated by the Home Depot in Countryside. The garden will be removed at the end of this growing season. This fun event will take place on Saturday, May 18, 9 AM-Noon.  Meet at the front entrance of the Riverside Public Library. The event is free. Volunteers are also needed to "adopt" (watering/weeding) the FRED Bed for a one week period the weeks of May 19-June 9, and August 15-September 21.  "FRED's Bed" is a prelude to the 2013 Frederick Law Olmsted in Riverside Education and Design (FRED), which returns on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
